The Business Women’s Sector of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce are holding an important conference which will explore the issue of gender inequality at work and create a strategy to tackle this high profile issue.

This Chamber event is being hosted by Murray Edwards College on Friday 14 September where the findings and recommendations of some new research undertaken by the College will be revealed.

Open to all, the event will provide a focus on how men and women can work together to champion change in the area of workplace gender inequality which remains a challenge in many organisations.

The programme will comprise the benefits of more inclusive cultures, understanding women’s (and some men’s) issues with workplace culture, looking at individual interventions to tackle gender bias behaviour, building closer relations between men and women; and action points for leaders to model gender-inclusive behaviour and communicate the benefits.

Speakers include: Fiona Duffy, Director of Development, Murray Edwards College;
Qun Yang, Co-founder of Biorbyt Ltd and Executive Director of Wo+Men’s Leadership Centre, Cambridge Judge Business School; Anne Bailey, Co-founder, Form the Future CIC; and Sarah Howard, Vice President of the British Chambers of Commerce who will deliver the keynote address at the beginning of the event.

Karen Beckwith, Chair of the Business Women’s Sector and Executive Director Subsidiaries and Business Services at Peterborough Regional College, said: “Following on from our successful international women’s day event in Peterborough earlier this year, we felt it was important for the business women’s sector to engage with all Chamber members on growing the most effective and productive workplace cultures in what continues to be a time of great change within the workplace.

“The conference will showcase research, case studies and recommendations led by Murray Edwards College Cambridge with attendees receiving an executive copy of the research report on ‘collaborating with men’.

“The conference is open to both Chamber and non-Chamber members and we would like to encourage both men and women to attend.”

The Conference costs £25.00 (plus VAT) for Chamber members and £32.00 (plus VAT) for non-members.
