Career Fair will feature live music from Burning Codes and Chozen

A Career Fair being held on Thursday 18th July will feature up-and-coming UK musicians and performers alongside Peterborough businesses showcasing local career options.

The acts will all be on hand to chat to young people about life as a professional musician as well as performing live.

Main act Chozen is currently being championed by BBC 1Xtra and BBC Radio 1. Support act Poni is another swiftly rising R&B artist who already has an association with Pit Bull and Grammy award winner Sean Paul. Also performing will be Burning Codes – the solo project of Irish, Belfast born singer and songwriter Paul Archer who provides vocals for Snow Patrol. Plus live sets from Dance singer/songwriter Shwain.

City youngsters aged 15-19 are being encouraged to attend the free event which will help them learn about different career options.

The Career Fair is taking place on Peterborough Embankment in a series of Big Tops which are also hosting the city’s Willow Festival and Levity Comedy Festival during the weekends before and after the fair.

Employers exhibiting at the Fair include Ringway, News International, Atkins, Royal Sun Alliance, the Marriott Hotel as well as colleges, Universities and apprenticeship providers.

Sue Addison from Peterborough Skills Service says this will be Peterborough’s biggest ever Career Fair, “We’re calling this event ‘The World’s Most Exciting Career Fair’. The live music, the venue, and the interactive stands that businesses are bringing along will make it a really interesting and varied experience for everyone attending.

“It’s all about helping young people look at the types of careers they might want to pursue and raising aspirations. Reaching the employees of tomorrow is also key to making sure our city has the right skills that are needed for future sustainability and business growth.

“The event will feature an Innovation Tent showcasing pioneering new technologies and environmental products being developed by Peterborough companies. There will also be a CV and interview boot-camp, a Dragon’s Den style challenge, and entertainment and refreshment stalls.”

The World’s Most Exciting Career Fair will take place on Thursday 18th July, 9.30am-3.30pm at Peterborough Embankment.
