Businesses get social with Roythornes

A packed house of local businesses and charities listened to experts from Roythornes, and from Peter Storey, Communications Director of Peterborough based Kidney Research UK about the use of social media and how it can present issues to businesses.

The event, held at Peterborough’s Kingsgate Conference Centre started with Solicitor Maz Dannourah talking about the legal issues of social media and why a policy is a good idea. This was followed by Peter Storey, Communications Director of Kidney Research UK who explained some of the ways in which the national charity uses social media to engage with their supporters and donors. The final slot was taken by Roythornes Partner Julie Robinson talking about the ‘social’ side of social media and how it’s very important to get the tone right in your presence.

Speaking about the event Marketing Manager Mark Dodds said:

“We had a great turnout with about 60 companies represented, which I suppose goes to show how social media is so present in our businesses. Having Peter tell the Kidney Research story was fascinating and his ‘real life’ examples really bought it home to the audience about how they can make social media work.”

Roythornes advise a number of local businesses on their social media policies and have produced a short video explaining why they are important, which can be found here: http://bit.ly/16VUqk6
