Business registrations bring Peterborough CORE network into Fengate Business Park

Fengate Business Park has secured investment from digital infrastructure provider, CityFibre, as local businesses backed a successful campaign to extend the new Peterborough CORE ultra-fast internet network into the area.

Fengate companies have saved in excess of £125,000 of combined costs to connect to the network which will now be absorbed by CityFibre as a result of the ‘Gig Up Fengate’ campaign, which saw over 190 businesses register their interest in gigabit speed connectivity over the CORE network.

Construction has now begun to extend the network into Fengate, with customers due to receive live services within 10-12 weeks. Twenty-one companies in Fengate have already signed contracts with service providers offering gigabit speeds over the Peterborough CORE.

Azeem Yaqoob, managing director of i3MEDIA, has signed up for gigabit speed services through Businesscoms. He said: “As a digital marketing agency, a fast and reliable internet connection is an essential requirement for our business so we backed the Gig Up Fengate campaign immediately. We’re thrilled that we’ll now be connected to the Peterborough CORE and in just a few weeks will have access to internet speeds 100 times faster than our current connection, allowing our international clients and offices to be better connected.”

Andy Starnes, city development manager from CityFibre, said: “This campaign demonstrates the power of businesses working together to influence the route of the Peterborough CORE network and is a great success for Fengate businesses. We’re now rolling out a similar campaign in Lynch Wood business parks and hope to achieve the same successful results and to allow other city businesses to benefit from gigabit speed internet.

“We’re grateful for the tremendous support we’ve received from our reseller partners who are now offering gigabit speed services over the Peterborough CORE.”

Gigabit speed internet services over the Peterborough CORE are available from CityFibre’s official reseller partners: Businesscoms, Consulting Networks, Cyberware and Rydal Communications.
