Bursary scheme launched for Peterborough residents to study for degree in sustainability

Peterborough has launched a scheme which could see four local residents receive sponsorship to study for a Master’s degree in Sustainability and contribute to developing Peterborough as a future city. The bursary scheme for the MSc Sustainability: Working for Positive Change is being launched as part of Peterborough’s Future Cities Demonstrator programme, Peterborough DNA.

Peterborough DNA will give four Peterborough residents from a broad range of backgrounds the incredible opportunity to receive full funding for the partly online course MSc Sustainability: Working for Positive Change. The bursary will cover course fees and contribute towards living expenses during 5-week workshops at Anglia Ruskin University and the Eden Project.

The course has been developed in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University, the Eden Project and Change Agents UK. Its aim is to enable course participants to become a catalyst for change for a sustainable future.

Neil Darwin, chief executive at economic development company Opportunity Peterborough, said: “The bursary scheme is an exciting opportunity for any local resident keen to gain a new qualification and boost their skill-set.

“It’s a truly multi-disciplinary course which will provide a deep understanding of key sustainability challenges, equip participants with the skills required to lead change, and provide them with the opportunity to undertake a work placement in which they can apply their knowledge and skills.”

Successful candidates will become some of the first individuals to be sponsored by Peterborough’s Future Cities Demonstrator programme, which aims to develop Peterborough as a future city by investing in innovation and skills. The selected candidates’ research will contribute to the work of the Peterborough DNA programme and support Peterborough’s vision to become a future city.
