WOULD you know what to do in a potential life or death situation if ever faced with one?

Buckles Solicitors LLP is playing a vital role in helping the local business community, Peterborough shoppers and its own staff and clients to come to the aid of members of the public in crisis.

The legal firm has been registered as an automated external defibrillator (AED) location as part of the nationwide HeartSafe programme, and now has its own piece of potential life-saving equipment at its Bourges Boulevard offices.

While the company plans to train its own first aiders within the business in the use of the defibrillator – which provides lifesaving treatment to a patient suffering a cardiac arrest – senior solicitor at Buckles, Alex Burch, says anyone can use the equipment.

“It may look like a complicated item, but a defibrillator is a very clever and easy to use piece of kit. Anyone can use a defib – which is fitted with a vocal instruction device to allow the user to operate it correctly,” said Alex – who as a volunteer Community First Responder is familiar with their use and benefits.

“While the defibrillator will be kept securely in Buckles reception, it will available to anyone who need to use it during working hours. We hope that Buckles will become recognised within the local business community as a recognised AED location and that the equipment – if ever needed – is easily accessible.”
