'Brave Souls' bare all at seminar

A number of ‘brave’ companies submitted their trading documents for public scrutiny at an event held by city lawyers Roythornes.

The companies were attending Roythornes Solicitors seminar on Terms and Conditions- a part of which was asking delegates to submit their documents in advance with the possibility of having them scrutinised in front of the audience.

Speaking about the seminar, Associate Deborah Brown said:

“When we launched the seminar we really did not know how may of the delegates would be brave enough to submit their details, but we were amazed by the number who did – in fact we did not have time to look at them all in the seminar and had to pick samples of the best and the worst.”

The message of the seminar was that many businesses rely on terms and conditions which are copied, outdated or simply not fit for the business and as a result firms are putting themselves at risk should problems arise.

 Deborah said:

“When we looked at what was sent in we found some serious problems, which could result in substantial issues for the businesses concerned.  We hope that by but pointing out some of the key issues, delegates appreciated how important their Terms and Conditions are and how they should review them regularly”

As a result of the seminar and in order to help businesses in the region Roythornes are offering firms a fixed price terms and Conditions review which will highlight any issues.  Prices start from just £225 ex VAT.

Deborah continued:

“Businesses have to appreciate that their Terms and Conditions are at the real sharp end of their business and a relatively small investment in having them reviewed could at best give them the confidence they are trading in the best way possible, and in extreme situations, save their business.”
