Age UK Peterborough and POSH season kicks off

The Age UK Peterborough and POSH season kicks off

Age UK Peterborough is delighted to announce their association with Peterborough United FC, chosen as one of  two  charities to be supported by POSH during the 2104/15 season.  The Age UK Peterborough volunteers were in action raising funds at the first home game on 16th August – with all money raised in Peterborough, being spent in Peterborough.

The news comes at a crucial time as Age UK Peterborough looks to extend its services to reach more of our growing older population, whilst balancing the books after significant funding cuts from local government – a trend likely to continue in the coming years.

David Bache, Chief Executive for Age UK Peterborough said, “This is a welcomed and timely partnership which will go a long way in helping to sustain and grow the services we provide across the city.  Our city is changing – we need to adapt to those changes and be in good shape to raise awareness and reach out to some of the most vulnerable and hard to reach older people in Peterborough.

This is a great show of support not only for our organisation but also the older community in Peterborough – we are very grateful.  Equally we hope this will encourage more organisations to step forward and pledge their support. ”

Through a network of staff and valuable  volunteers,  Age UK Peterborough currently provide home care services to over 370 older people, have over 750 gardening clients, 150 befrienders, a day care centre and in 2013 offered valuable advice and information to over 1,500  older people across Peterborough.

If you would like to find out more about what they do, join as a volunteer or become a corporate partner working to make a real difference locally – please get in touch.
