STAFF at city accountancy firm Rawlinsons have completed their 75th anniversary challenge – which has raised £8,500 for local charities, exceeding their £7,500 target.
The objective was to complete 75 charitable acts in 75 days to celebrate the company’s special landmark anniversary and raise £7,500.
Staff from across the business took part in a series of events and volunteering in projects to support local charities with either fund-raising or labour.
The programme of activities was wide and varied – from a 75-mile static bike marathon to a human hound race at the city’s greyhound stadium; a cathedral abseil; 75km walk and taking to the water for the annual dragon boat festival.
The five charities to benefit from the fund-raising marathon are NSPCC Peterborough Business Support Group; Shine; Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice; Macmillan Cancer Support and the Peterborough Cathedral 900 Appeal. Funds will be split between them.
Volunteering work included getting Little Miracles ready for summer with gardening, painting and cleaning; taking over a lunchtime friendship group for Age UK; painting the monkey house at the Exotic Pet Refuge; gardening at Thorpe Hall and backing SHINE with some marketing survey support.
“We have been part of city life for 75 years and it seemed fitting that in this special year, we should choose to give something back to the local communities we have served,” said Rawlinsons managing partner Colin Crowley.
“This initiative was supported by all the staff at our Lincoln Road offices and we are delighted with the commitment and final fund-raising total which will help local charities,” he added.
