Rawlinsons receive Green Award!

Rawlinsons are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Investors in the Environment Green Accreditation, the highest achievable level. Senior Partner Chris Collier said: “Rawlinsons recognised the impact our business had on the environment and made a commitment to improve this. The steps that have been taken to reduce our environmental impact have shown significant results and we are particularly proud of how supportive the entire team has been of this venture.”

In order to achieve this accreditation Rawlinsons committed to reducing our resources consumption by at least 2%. However, by placing posters and issuing reminders to the staff as well as promoting more energy efficient activity we actually achieved a remarkable 33% reduction on our electricity usage. We implemented a recycling policy, which has seen our waste to landfill drop by almost 80% in the past year. During our Zero Waste Week in February 2014 our waste to landfill was even less, this has led to the introduction of a compost bin for all food waste.

All members of staff have been involved with the various activities. We collected over 3,500 Christmas Cards in January 2014 to support the Marks and Spencer recycling campaign which generates funds for the planting of new trees throughout the UK in partnership with the Woodland Trust. We also implemented a Travel Plan which has resulted in a number of employees now car sharing on their journey to and from work, as well as when travelling to client premises. Several employees now walk and cycle to work or use other sustainable methods whenever possible.

Rawlinsons will continue to develop our action plans to reduce our carbon footprint even further and are grateful for the support and advice received from the Peterborough Environment City Trust who run the Investors in Environment scheme.
