Region’s Business Leaders Brought Together to help Peterborough’s Entrepreneurs and SMEs Avoid Costly Mistakes

Peterborough’s small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs have the chance to meet, and learn from, some of the region’s biggest business successes this summer at the Building a Successful Business Event on 28 June 2018.

The speaker line-up aims to give local business owners essential insights into developing their business successfully, from start to exit.

With many of the event speakers heralding from or having worked in Peterborough, it is being seen as a way of supporting and celebrating the city’s ambitious business community.

Peterborough is a hotbed of entrepreneurship; the most recent ONS figures show that enterprise creation (as a proportion of industry) was 50% higher in Peterborough than national averages. Peterborough also ranked amongst the top 10 cities for the number of business start-ups (per 10,000 of population) by independent think-tank, Centre for Cities.

The event will also come with the chance to talk directly with each of the speakers, who between them have over 100 years of collective business wisdom. It is being organised by the city’s economic development company Opportunity Peterborough.

Delegates will be able to get practical, replicable strategies that can be used in their own business from those who’ve experienced life as an entrepreneur.

Speakers include:

Mike Greene – serial entrepreneur
Sukhi Wahiwala – entrepreneur, business mentor and international speaker
Iain Forsythe – Managing Director of Premier Kitchens
Penny Power OBE – entrepreneur, digital business leader, founder of Ecademy and The Business Café.
Neville Wright – author, investor, public speaker, property developer
Ben Harper – entrepreneur, author, speaker
Ben Kench – author of Selling for Dummies
Swapnil Garg – digital marketing agency owner, property investor, Amazon business owner
Steve Bowyer, chief executive of Opportunity Peterborough, said, “This event brings together a truly impressive group of business leaders who are eager to share their own experiences to support and inspire Peterborough’s business talent.

“It doesn’t matter what stage you’re at in growing your business, all aspects of the business life cycle will be covered and real insight shared by people who’ve faced challenges head on, and gone on to achieve huge success in business. We’ve kept the price of the event low to just cover costs so that it is accessible and affordable to anyone.”

Building a Successful Business event will take place on 28 June 2018, 9.00am – 5.00pm at the KingsGate Conference Centre, 2 Staplee Way, Parnwell, PE1 4YT.

Tickets for the event are priced at just £37 + VAT. To find out more visit the Opportunity Peterborough website or for any queries, contact Michelle Craig, Eco Innovation Centre Manager, by emailing: michelle@ecoinnovationcentre.com or calling 01733 294520.
