Peterborough Skills Service announce new website

A new website has been launched by Peterborough Skills Service to improve youth employability. The site is designed to support the growth of this Service and help connect people to local opportunities.

Supported by Opportunity Peterborough and Peterborough City Council, the Peterborough Skills Service is a pioneering new brokerage programme that facilitates the delivery of work-related activities such as mentoring, careers talks, classroom sessions and work experience placements.

The new site acts as a central information portal for education and training providers, employers and Peterborough’s young people. It is easy to navigate and hosts valuable resources, useful links, the latest skills news and upcoming events.

Schools and colleges can read about events to see some of the activities they could take advantage of in the future. Young people and their parents can find links to information to help them with career and education choices, and about how Peterborough Youth Council and the new Youth MP are working to help them.

Local employers are encouraged to visit the website to learn how Peterborough Skills Service can provide assistance, and be signposted to the most recent funding and developments for education and skills in the city.

Stella Cockerill from the Peterborough Skills Service, said: “Since the Peterborough Skills Service launched in October 2011, more than 1,100 businesses have signed up and over 850 work placements have been secured. This new website will make it easier to coordinate all this activity and offers a central point for employers and education providers to stay up to date with skills activities.”

www.peterboroughskillsservice.com is now live! Employers can now register to Peterborough Skills Service online via the new website. Stay up-to-date by also following the Service on twitter @PSkillsService
