ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, passionate, and driven manufacturing specialist to support the launch and delivery of the Smart Manufacturing Alliance – a new organisation being created to drive the development of a world class manufacturing cluster. You will be joining us at an exciting time and will take responsibility for identifying and growing the membership of the Smart Manufacturing Alliance.

 

ABOUT THE SMART MANUFACTURING ALLIANCE

The SMA (Smart Manufacturing Alliance Ltd) is a joint venture that has been established by Peterborough’s economic development company, Opportunity Peterborough, and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

The SMA has been established to create a membership network of Manufacturing Groups, sector based Special Interest Groups, and associated programmes of support, in order to drive Productivity, Innovation, and Sustainability in the manufacturing sector, primarily within the Greater Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area, but it will welcome members regardless of their location.

The objective of the SMA is to build a world class advanced manufacturing and engineering cluster with a clear comparative advantage, and competitive, innovative, and resilient supply chains. It is intended that at its core the Smart Manufacturing Alliance will be a membership organisation.

Members will receive access to:

  • A diagnostic and business support service
  • Grant funding advice and guidance
  • A range of training services, tailored to their business
  • Business sector and market analysis
  • Enhanced networking opportunities, business visits, events, and workshops
  • Facilitation of pilot- and challenge-led innovation platforms

The Smart Manufacturing Alliance will further support growth in the sector by:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Programme Director of the SMA the Network Development Manager’s key responsibilities will be:

  • Identify and recruit the SMA’s membership.
  • Create a compelling offer to businesses to secure growing membership
  • Support businesses through the provision of diagnostic and business support services.
  • Support the Programme Director in delivery of programs, activities and platforms
  • Grow membership through outstanding delivery and great customer feedback / recommendations
  • Schedule programs, events and activities ensuring effective marketing, engagement, partner / supporter collaboration and delivery / impact
  • Support the development and delivery of Innovation Platforms
  • Support the delivery of training programs
  • Continuous improvement

PERSON PROFILE

Ideally the successful candidate will possess most, or all, of the following experience and attributes:

  • Graduate Engineer or equivalent
  • Experience of delivering change, or leading projects within the manufacturing industry
  • Experience in a client facing or team leading role
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with manufacturing business leaders
  • Ability to deliver credible business support programmes for the manufacturing sector
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and balance conflicting priorities
  • Ability to win new business or funding awards
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present in public
  • Strong use of initiative and the responsibility to deliver.
  • Proactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop robust relationships across the public, private and third sectors at all levels
