Parveen Ashraf or The Spice Queen as she is known - is a TV chef, author and columnist.

Parveen moved to Peterborough 20 years ago with her husband and 2 children. Her husband was a technical director of Hampton. She then had her third child, as the township was being named her claim to fame was not her TV show but the fact that there is a road in Hampton named after her son, Cyrus Way which is opposite the Tesco Extra.

Parveen’s first job in Peterborough was as a nursery manger in central Peterborough she was instrumental in heading up the Sure Start project, helping young children to thrive. She then became an inspector for Ofsted but left the corporate life after a serious illness.

She then launched her business in 2008 and made her TV debut on Ideal World Shopping channel based in Fengate. She began catering, teaching Indian cookery, which she did in both Peterborough City College as well as Regional College. She appeared in the popular CH4 show ‘Come Dine With Me’ which gave her the bug to appear in front of the camera.

In Jan 2019, she shared her passion for her cuisine in her own 10 part TV series - Parveen’s Indian Kitchen. Parveen believes that networking locally has given her the confidence to film her show and network nationally and now internationally as her TV shows have now aired in India, Norway and now in France.

Parveen is a true believer in networking and always says “networking works”
