Environmental awards recognise sustainability leaders of 2020

The iiE Awards, held on Thursday 8th October 2020, recognised business green champions across the UK who have created positive and long-lasting change in their working practices, in order to help tackle climate change.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of the Awards, and to celebrate the occasion, the team behind green accreditation scheme Investors in the Environment (iiE) ran a week-long programme of inspiring online sustainability events. The events attracted more than 500 attendees and are now available to view as video recordings at www.iie.uk.com.

The events included talks from expert guest speakers, who focused on a range of themes including social impact, carbon reduction, water saving, natural environment and more. The aim of the programme was to engage organisations and individuals with different environmental initiatives to inspire, influence and share best practice.

April Sotomayor, Sustainability Consultant, said “10 years ago Investors in the Environment was launched after our charity identified a gap in the market. There was, and continues to be, a huge opportunity to encourage organisations to account for their environmental footprint, benchmark their progress, and enable them to get recognized for these efforts.”

“We were absolutely delighted with the standard of this year’s awards entries and are delighted to announce that – in the last audited year alone – our members have achieved estimated carbon savings of 13,876 tonnes CO2e saved. This is a truly tremendous achievement.”

Thank you to the organisations that supported this year’s iiE Awards: including BGL Group, Roythornes Solicitors, Davies Veterinary Specialists, Cross Keys Homes, Green Energy Switch, Ecotricity, Cool Food, and Hunt & Coombs Solicitors.
