Dedicated accountants retire after 90 years of service at Moore Thompson Chartered Accountants

East of England accountancy firm Moore Thompson has thanked two of its longest-serving members of staff who have retired with a combined service of more than 90 years.

Marian Boxall and Melvyn Price have started the New Year in retirement having left the firm, which has offices in Peterborough, Wisbech, Market Deeping and Spalding.

Melvyn has spent more than 40 years at the firm. He was a Partner at Moore Thompson for a number of years and Director of MT Computer Consulting, where he was the driving force behind IT at Moore Thompson.

More recently he has worked in a consultancy role, where he has helped clients with a wide range of matters and continued to assist the firm with its IT systems.

Marian joined the firm in 1969 as a receptionist and gradually progressed through the firm during its various mergers to become the practice’s IT Manager.

She saw a significant change in technology during this time and helped alongside Melvyn to create MT Computer Consulting Ltd, which provides software and training to Moore Thompson’s clients as an additional add on service.

To thank them both for their service at the firm, Moore Thompson’s partners and staff held a celebration during the annual office party to commend their years of hard work and dedication.

Each was presented with a gift and can now look forward to enjoying their retirement pursuing their hobbies and spending time with family.

Mark Hildred, Managing Partner at Moore Thompson, said: “Marian and Melvyn have played an invaluable role within the development of our practice and we are very sad to see them go.

“They have both worked very hard and given so much to the firm; we cannot thank them enough. We hope that they both enjoy their retirement and we look forward to hearing what they get up to.”
