Breakfast Seminar – Age Discrimination and Pension reforms

Age Discrimination and Pension reform will come under the spotlight at a free employment law seminar being held jointly by City solicitors Roythornes and Financial Advisers AWD Chase de Vere.

The number of accepted claims for Age Discrimination  at Employment Tribunals rose by almost a third last year and it is one of the fastest growing causes of complaint seen by the Tribunals.

Speaking about the seminar Phil Cookson, Employment law specialist at City based Roythornes said:

“Age Discrimination legislation was introduced in 2006 but the increase in claims shows firms are still falling foul of the regulations. Many businesses do not realise they could be discriminating in their recruitment advertising, staff benefits and holiday policies simply by the language they use or the rules they apply.”

The seminar will also have an overview by Financial Advisers AWD Chase de Vere on the forthcoming pension reforms, which start to be phased in next year.  Under the Government’s new NEST scheme, all employers will have to offer their employees a pension scheme and contribute to it.

Phil finished by reminding employers of the need to keep up to date with the latest developments:

“There are always changes in employment law and this is an ideal opportunity for employers to get up to speed on these important issues.  We hope businesses in the region take advantage of this opportunity and come to the event.”

The free seminar takes place at the Holiday Inn  Peterborough West on 29th September.  Anyone wishing to attend should contact Mark Dodds at Roythornes:  markdodds@roythornes.co.uk.
