Allison Homes lights up Christmas in Oakley Vale Donation to community centre

The Christmas tree at the Oakley Vale Community Centre in Corby has been lit up with a grant from Allison Homes (www.allison-homes.co.uk) via the Larkfleet Homes Community Fund.

The fund has given £100 to pay for lights on the tree which has been erected outside the centre. The tree itself was donated by local landowner Great Oakley Estate.

Councillor Judy Caine, vice-chair of the trustees at the centre, said: “Community-building is a large part of our remit as trustees on this relatively new and fast-growing estate.

“We wanted to have a Christmas tree around which all members of our community could gather and sing some carols. As we have 18 languages spoken on Oakley Vale, I’m hoping we may even get to share carols from different cultures – although this may be a little ambitious for our first event.

“We will also enjoy mulled wine and mince pies together (hot chocolate and gingerbread for the children).

“We are very grateful for the donation from the Larkfleet Homes Community Fund which has helped to make this possible.”

The Larkfleet Homes Community Fund supports groups which enhance or develop local communities. It makes grants to charities or voluntary organisations within ten miles (16 kilometres) of any housing development by Larkfleet Homes or Allison Homes, both part of The Larkfleet Group of Companies which is based in Bourne, Lincolnshire.

Allison Homes is currently building new homes at Oakley Rise within Oakley Vale, a new development that aims to capture a sense of village-style living with all the amenities of Corby just minutes away.

The company has created a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses with traditional styling, but up-to-the-minute features and fittings.

Karl Hick, CEO of Allison Homes, said: “A community is more than just houses. When we are building new homes, we want to support the local groups that our residents can participate in to help build a real community.”

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation manages The Larkfleet Homes Community Fund on behalf of Allison Homes, providing grants of up to £5,000 – or more in exceptional circumstances.
