Tell us a little about Barnack.
The Barnack Group is 26 years old and comprised of three companies; the sales and marketing of Confectionery and a franchise network, Storage and Logistics, and finally Property development and construction. We operate nationally with a focus on customer service and providing value for money. Our company prides itself on getting things done and having an excellent team of staff with a ‘can do, make it happen’ culture. Our business model allows for flexibility and a breadth of experience.
What’s your greatest achievement or claim to fame?
Probably the redevelopment of our existing 9 acre site at Orton Southgate. In 2011 we moved our business and staff to the new premises, whilst maintaining customer service and being able to grow all the businesses by over 180%. The move has given our staff security and improved our customer service levels to allow the Group to expand.
What’s your next big goal?
Our next big goal is to consolidate the group of businesses. Our aim is to carry out team development and staff training so that we can continue to grow the businesses in this difficult economic climate. We have a number of large construction projects that we wish to deliver in the next 24 months. In addition to this, we also have some wonderful new confectionery products and are developing our franchise network.
Why is being in Peterborough good for your business?
We have been based in Peterborough for 26 years and during this time our business has grown with the city. Peterborough has excellent road and rail connections with a good pool of flexible labour. The city is developing a sense of direction and a ‘will do, can do’ attitude, assisting growth. The City Council and its departments are coordinating the services and infrastructure in the city, and leisure amenities are constantly improving. All of this is attracting businesses and families to Peterborough which in turn helps business.
