All the world's major religions are represented in Peterborough
- a recent survey showed that we have people of 14 faiths here.
Religion
Peterborough has been welcoming new immigrants for generations and we welcome and
celebrate the resulting cultural and religious diversity.
Many religions are represented on the Peterborough Inter Faith Council which works to maintain
understanding and mutual respect between the city’s religions.
The cathedral
at the heart of our city is not just a place of heritage and historic significance
but the centre of a vibrant Christian community. Around the city there are many
churches embracing a wide variety of doctrines.
Alongside the cathedral on the city skyline is one of our newest religious buildings,
the central
mosque – one of several Muslim places of worship in Peterborough.
The Hindu community
has a number of temples and many other faiths also have places of worship here.
Peterborough City Council
maintains a list of faith and other community groups.
