| MARKETING PETERBOROUGH PROMOTES CITY OPPORTUNITIES TO POTENTIAL INVESTORS |
Peterborough’s reputation with future investors, workers and citizens is to be boosted with the development of a coordinated brand for the city.
Specialist city branding agency Glazer, which has undertaken projects for many high profile places and organisations, including the Welsh Development Agency and the Bluewater Shopping Centre, has been appointed by Opportunity Peterborough to undertake the rebranding exercise and establish a new mechanism for promoting the city.
The need for creating a clear and consistent brand was highlighted as a major priority for growing and regenerating Peterborough at an event for the city’s large employers held at the House of Commons earlier this year.
The Marketing Peterborough project is being delivered by Opportunity Peterborough and will create a series of key messages to promote the city as a vibrant place in which to invest, work, live and to visit. These messages will be used in extensive marketing campaigns and will include the development of a new logo for Peterborough.
Steve Compton, Opportunity Peterborough chief executive, comments: “Growing and regenerating Peterborough is about attracting investment and new people and creating new opportunities. Branding is not about a logo and strap line, but having a clear and consistent message that is deliverable, real and used widely when people talk about the city. Having this in Peterborough will ensure that we achieve our goals for the city.”
Work is underway to establish the Peterborough brand, which will be launched in February 2009, and Opportunity Peterborough is creating a Marketing Forum, made up of key members of the local business community and public sector partners, to provide opportunities for promoting the city and to ensure the city’s image is managed appropriately.
